Pechão is a small village in the heart of the Algarve (Portugal), near the city of Olhão. It has a well-organized main street with a mini mercado, two bars, a butcher, pharmacy and hardware store. From the very first week we arived, we have felt really at home. On the terrace of the village pub between the older men and chattering women we’d drink a bica or cerveja. And everything for reassuring Portuguese low prices. Life is slower, no one’s in a hurry and the summer heat makes you more relaxed too.
It’s all very quiet and relaxed in our B&B in the Villa and with a (rental) car you swiftly find yourself in the more dynamic areas. Larger towns such as Albufeira, Faro, Loulé and Tavira are all nearby. And for lovers of the wild life, the Ria Formosa Natural Park is just around the corner. This wetland is the fourth largest nature reserve in Europe. A nice place to lay sail at one of the pristine offshore islands or simply spend a day on one of the beaches.
